Ricky Rodriguez was named Head Football Coach at Ravenwood High School in May 2025, succeeding longtime coach Will Hester. Rodriguez had served as the Raptors’ Offensive Line Coach and Offensive Coordinator for the previous two seasons, helping lead the team to a 22-5 record and consistent top rankings in Class 6A football.

Rodriguez brings a dynamic coaching background that spans both coasts. He began his head coaching career at Encinal High School in Alameda, California, where he transformed a struggling program from 0-8 in 2014 to 11-1 in 2017, earning two WACC Championships and multiple playoff appearances. He later led James Logan High School in Union City, California, to a dramatic turnaround, winning 16 games in two seasons and earning honors as NorCal Coach of the Year and Oakland Raiders Coach of the Year in 2018.

His coaching journey also includes assistant roles at Washington HS, Clayton Valley Charter, and Piedmont HS, before relocating to Middle Tennessee in 2020. In Tennessee, Rodriguez coached at Battle Ground Academy and served as Middle School Athletic Director before joining Ravenwood’s staff.

In addition to his football success, Rodriguez made headlines in 2025 as the Tennessee Titans Flag Football Coach of the Year, leading Ravenwood’s girls flag football team to a 22-2 record, a No. 22 national ranking, and the inaugural TSSAA Flag Football Invitational Championship.

Known for his high energy, relationship-building, and commitment to academic and athletic excellence, Rodriguez is poised to continue Ravenwood’s tradition of football success while bringing his own innovative style to the program.
