A more than 90-minute delay in the morning, some rain showers and a very soggy course only added to the toughness of playing golf in the loaded District 10-AA tournament Tuesday at Franklin Bridge Golf Club.
The two-time defending Class AA state champion Brentwood High School boys and returning girls champs from Page captured the overall team titles with Patriot golfers Jake Eickhoff, a junior, and senior Brooke Bennett clinching their first individual district wins. Eickhoff turned in the low card with a 4-under 67.
"This is definitely the best (district) in the state, and you know, it's great to be in that competition," said Eickhoff, noting how he found a rhythm after several holes and feeling out the varied speeds of the rain-soaked greens.
